    Hello! I'm Abubeker

     I am an experienced pilot with over 8,000 hours of flying time bringing forth the expertise of an airline Captain and a line and simulator trainer/examiner. I am currently working as a Captain on Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner with Ethiopian Airlines. I am also a Simulator and Line Instructor and Examiner for the Airline and a designated check pilot (DCP) for Ethiopian Civil Aviation (ECAA).


    In addition to my full time profession, I am an Electronics and Computer Programming hobbyist . I also love reading books of Science, Engineering, History and Philosophy.

    I started my career with Ethiopian Airlines as a First Officer on Bombardier DH8-400 (Q400). I flew over 5,200 hours on various aircrafts including the DH8-400, Boeing 767-300, Boeing 757-200 and the Airbus A350-900 on the right seat.

    I was involved with a team of four B737 instructors in the revision of Ethiopian Airlines B737 SOP. 

    B737 MAX SImulator Training Manual

    I was involved in a 3 month long project with three other instructors in the making of a new B737 MAX transition training manual. The manual was the first instructor and student guide that is based on the concepts of Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) for the Airline.

    I was also tasked in preparing Simulator briefing slides, with interactive content for use by simulator instructors.

    Electronics and Electromechanical Hobbyist

    One of the activities I like to spend my spare time is designing, building and experimenting with electronics and electromechanical projects.

    Mostly I do this just as a hobby with intentions on learning and experimenting on electronics. But I've built a few practical projects to the finish including Laboratory Power Supply Unit, Arduino Controlled PCB UV exposure unit and a Mechanical Ventilator as a backup for professional machines for COVID for countries with poor health and medical resources.

    Computer Programming

    I am also an intermediate level programmer with experience mainly with C# and the .NET Framework in Microsoft Visual Studio. In addition, I can program with C++, VB, XAML, HTML and CSS. I am currently trying to learn JavaScript, Swift and Xcode.
